The Prayer

by Sonia Cheug

The stars in your eyes melted like the pieces of my heart . Crushed into a million segments of cold ice .

You were my entire world and I was your muse .

The pieces of dirt tucked away into an impossible corner.

Every kind person's laughter and every pure child's smile . Is like the deep flesh wound on the spine of my back .

Bitter words and unanswered questions circulate throughout my brain , like the beginnings of your treacherous storm .

Your aftershave is too painfull to smell and the remaining pieces of your clothing hang forever in my wardrobe .

I lay here confused on the hard wooden floore and stare out into the empty window .

There is nothing . Abolsutely nothing .

Only the curtains which block out the sun's light .

I bury my eyes into the palms of my dry hands and I pray .

I pray to god , I wont have to see you anymore in my dreams .

The End .
